Couvilloun Launches Campaign for Mayor

Gainesville City Council Member Sam Couvillon has announced his campaign for Mayor.“I am excited to continue working hard each day for the people of Gainesville as Mayor. I want to continue our efforts withmidtown and downtown revitalization, improving quality of life, and enhancing public safety for all.”

“As a member of the city council, I have been committed to providing the highest quality of service for ourcitizens. This includes equipping our first responders with the tools they need to do their jobs, while supportingour community policing model and enhancing mental health training and awareness.”

“Undoubtedly, the largest issues facing Gainesville today are our outdated infrastructure. As Mayor, my toppriority will be to improve our transportation network so that your time could be spent with your family orenjoying some of the city’s newly renovated parks or library facilities.”

“While education may not be a typical issue for a candidate for Mayor, it is a passion of mine. I am veryinvested in the future of Gainesville and have spent countless hours volunteering for and being involved withthe Gainesville City Schools. I will continue to work hard as your Mayor to improve the quality of education forour next generation.”

“As we move forward out of this pandemic, I am most proud of the City of Gainesville’s resilience and abilityto continue historical economic development projects. I ask for your vote to continue all of the wonderful thingscurrently happening in our awesome community.”

Couvillon lives in Gainesville with his wife and two children. He currently works as a benefits agent for TurnerWood and Smith Insurance. The Couvillons worship at Gainesville First United Methodist Church. He was firstelected to the City Council in 2013.The non-partisan General Election is November 2, 2021
